I have been married for 16 years to my wonderful husband and I am a mother to 3 amazing children. Prior to having children I completed my Bachelors of Commerce Degree specializing in Human Resource Management. I worked in HR for 5 years before deciding to stay home after the birth of my second child. I was home for 8 years and ran a daycare from my home. I have returned to work outside the home but remain dedicated to providing Doula Services. My Employer is very compassionate and provides me with a flexible schedule when necessary.
My birth experiences were okay but I felt that "something" was missing in my experiences and that "something" was continuous and comforting support for myself and my partner. While the nursing staff and doctors were good, I was not their only patient and did not receive their 100% undivided attention. This led me to explore other options where I discovered that Doulas can provide the type of support that I was wanting.
I decided to pursue my Doula Training so that I could assist women and their families in having the best possible experience during labour, delivery, and beyond. In May 2010 I completed the Doula Training Course through DONA International.
